Core aeration relieves soil compaction, improves water penetration and reduces runoff, enhances air exchange in the root zone, promotes deeper root growth, improves fertilizer and nutrient uptake, reduces thatch accumulation, and helps lawns recover from stress.
Our Aeration Services
Core Aeration
We use specialized equipment that removes small plugs of soil (typically 2-3 inches deep and 0.5-0.75 inches in diameter). This creates channels for water, air, and nutrients to reach grass roots. The plugs left on the surface break down naturally within 2-3 weeks.
Timing
The best time for aeration depends on your grass type. Fall (September-October) is ideal for cool-season grasses common in central Washington. Spring (April-May) is also effective. We do aerate in the summer to help get water into the soil. We recommend aerating at least once per season and suggest a 2nd aeration during the season for optimal results.
Post-Aeration Care
After aeration, we recommend overseeding to fill in thin areas, fertilization to support recovery, proper watering, and avoiding heavy traffic until plugs break down.
